Meet some of our people

Edgardo, pdD. Combustion & Materials, R&D

I work as a senior researcher and head up the Combustion & Materials Team in our R&D Department. I’ve studied at universities in my home country, Italy, France, and Finland; and first got to know Foster Wheeler when I was at university. The expertise and know-how of Foster Wheeler people has always impressed me. At the moment, I’m working on a research project to develop new, more efficient energy-saving solutions that will also be better for the environment. This type of work is very rewarding.

Maarit, Business Control Manager, Finance department

I came to Foster Wheeler's Finance department to prepare my Master's Thesis in the beginning of 2002. Since then I have been responsible for several different parts of financial administration. The most memorable and challenging experience has been one year secondment on Foster Wheelers' subsidiary in Germany. At the moment I am responsible for the financial management of both German subsidiary and Finnish service operations. Most rewarding matter on my job has been the possibility to develop my professional skill on different tasks. International atmosphere and working with different kinds of people give a nice booster to working with us.

Mika, Service Center, Service

I work as a supervisor at our Service Center in Varkaus. I joined the company, which was Ahlström back then, in 1990 as an apprentice trainee, completed my mechanical engineering studies, and returned to what had become Foster Wheeler in 1995. I’m the third generation of our family to work at the Foster Wheeler site in Varkaus. It’s got a great atmosphere and I’ve always found it easy to get on with my colleagues.

Timo, System Engineer, Conceptual Engineering

As a system engineer, I have the chance to see a project during all phases of its execution. I’m involved in system development during the proposal phase, ensuring system functionality during execution, and in testing and ensuring that guarantee values are met during commissioning. I’ve also had the chance to take part in training on the latest developments in boiler technology. The best thing about my job is working with lots of different people. I joined Foster Wheeler in 2006 as a student to do my diploma thesis on control and system engineering and stayed on.
